David Boys, Utilities Officer, coordinates PSI’s international work on the utilities of water, waste and energy. This includes policy work on finance and governance of utilities as well as worker representation in multinational utility corporations. David is a recognised authority in the water sector and is a member of the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation. David also coordinates corporate social responsibility and investment issues with worker-trusteed pension funds. Public Services International (PSI) is a global trade union federation that represents 20 million women and men working in the public services around the world. PSI is an autonomous body which works in association with labour federations covering other sectors of the workforce and with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). PSI is an officially recognised non-governmental organisation for the public sector within the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and has consultative status with ECOSOC and observer status with other UN bodies such as UNCTAD and UNESCO.
Prior to coming to PSI in 1998, David Boys worked for 11 years with the Service Employees International Union in Washington, DC., with responsibilities for coordinating policy and activities in the Canadian region and to strengthen SEIU’s international activities, notably in the property services division, where he worked with UNI, and in pensions policies with PSI.
