La gouvernance, les droits humains et l'équité

La gouvernance environnementale durable constitue l'un des piliers les plus importants d'une mise en ouvre complète et efficace du droit de l'environnement national et international. Elle requiert la mise sur pied au niveau local et international d'institutions susceptibles d'offrir une gestion environnementale efficace, juste et équitable.

La gouvernance environnementale durable est intrinsèquement liée au respect des droits humains, plus particulièrement en regard des liens entre la gestion de l'environnement et la réalisation de droits humains spécifiques. De plus, elle est directement apparentée aux questions d'équité : la situation des femmes dans la gestion environnementale (problèmes liés aux discriminations sur la base du sexe) ou les relations entre les Etats au sein du droit de l'environnement (problématique du traitement différencié) en sont deux illustrations.

Le programme Gouvernance, droits humains et équité de IELRC se concentre sur une série de questions liées à:

  • La gouvernance environnementale du niveau local au niveau international;
  • Le traitement différencié (équité) en droit international;
  • Les droits humains, l'environnement et la justice environnementale;
  • Les droits procéduraux, y compris les questions concernant l'évaluation de l'impact sur l'environnement et l'évaluation stratégique environnementale;
  • Les problèmes liés à la discrimination sur la base du sexe dans la gestion environnementale.
